Getting Organized

Another common reason to use chore charts is to help your family get organized.

Done right, this idea works really, really well.

What do I mean by "done right"? Well, just like you need to practice driving a car before you can expect to use one to get to work on time, practicing these chore chart tips will make using one for getting organized work that much better.

  • be specific. Charting "clean your room" is not half as useful as "put dirty clothes in hamper".
  • be timely. Putting "inspection at noon Saturday" on your chart as a check-off item will work much better than nonstop nagging.
  • be reasonable. Adding "1 hour of playtime" to your chart will make the rest of the chores much easier to get done.
